Disappointed. This is what I felt after watching Nan kadavul. Despite the huge build up for this movie - bala direction , 3 years of work, Arya sacrificing more than a year in his career for this movie, it didn impress much.

Few parts which I loved about the movie

BALA - Credits to him for always trying to do something different, rather than sticking to the default principles of tamil masala. Every frame we can see his perfectionism speaking. He is the real hero of nan kadavul. Really liked his guts for portraying the reality of mafia begging. Yet another national award will be in his bag.

Physically challenged people - Doesnt seem like these people are in front of the camera for the first time. Real professionalism in acting. People (So called hero's) like J.K Rithish, Santhanu & few others of kollywood ivangala parthavathu nadika kathukita seri. The timing comedy made by these characters are a real plus for this movie. The comedian who accompanies vadivelu, will be now recognised for his splendid performance as a character artist.

Visuals
- Technical values were given much importance. Being the visuals of kasi or the rusty environment of the temple, the cinematographers have done well.

Villan - Raghuvaran ku aduthapadiya nan parthu bayanthathu intha villan than. Good choice for the role.

Why the movie doesnt impress much .

Arya - He had nothing much to do.His portion comprises of Growing long hair & beard, Staring the camera, Thalakila nikkarathu & shouting aham brahmasmi, fight sequence.Ithellam vachu arya nalla nadichar nu sollida mudiyathu. Traces of Pithamagan can be seen at few places of the movie. Could not pictuarise thala performing as Rudra especially in topdown posture...

Story - As usual pala idathula logic puriyala. Better Bala should have taken seperate documentary portraying the life of Agories & the life of begger, mafia. He ended up messing both leaving the audience confused. If u can bare Vijay oops Dr.Vijay jumping from Guindy to Thambaram, Gaptun doing major surgery using mobile light, appo ithu ellam oru periya matter eh kidayathu.

With promo's & trailers making huge expectation among the audience, the momentum goes off once the pichaipathiram starts. Nan kadavul is not a entertainer.

Final verdict - Watch it.. Atleast for Bala..

Cheers
Prem.

I was watching this movie last week. Even though the movie was not up to my expectations, it certainly made me remember those beautiful days of my life. This post is not a movie review, but all those sweet memories. So I thought why not archive it in blogosphere. So here I go.
"What's your ambition?" principle asked, during my admission interview for class 11. "I want to be a doctor " was my reply. Next question was "What if not ?". I replied with confidence "No I will". Looking back now makes me feel how funny this statement was. But still I don't get the reason why I wanted to be a doctor. It was my family who were more interested than me. I studied to my maximum that I even skipped the maths entrance classes to study biology. But I missed the medical seat by just 5 marks. Athavathu cut off la ye 5 marku mela venum :-) .

Managed to get GCT, information technology in counselling. One of the best decisions that changed my life totally. Being a student from biology background, chances of using the computer were very rare. Earlier in my life I ve used computer only few times for playing games. I was happy to see that only 6 out of 60 from my class were from computer background. So I thought I can samalichufy. Lot of doubts during first semester as "What is information technology?" "Why are we studying physics , chemistry , workshop?" "Why there is no computer related courses?" went unanswered. Syllabus in GCT are pity weird. Second sem we had our first computer theory & practical subjects. While other department students had C fundamentals, CS & IT ku straight ah C++(practicals) & OOPS. Ithula OOAD nu Mr.Grady Booch eluthina oru theory paper vera. KEYWORDS, VARIABLES, DATATYPES ellam puriyatha puthirave irunthuchu.

Being a autonomous institution rules for lab are " I dunno what you ll do, You have to get the output verified by next week". Computer ah pathiye onnum theriyathu ithula C++ vera. To add to it our first program was MATRIX OPERATIONS. Athuvum size of matrix vanthu (n*m) ah irukanumam. GOKUL was our only hope. Pet named "Moniter mandai" of our class. Though he is from biology background, he was good at programming. Ivara pathi sollanumna, while our interests shifted to circket in school days, his interest was on computer games. So programming la U-TURN ellam poduvan. Whole class copied his code. Yet another shock was waiting for me. The class was divided into 2 batches of 30 each, with myself being the first person in the second batch. It really hurts to be the first roll number. Every time you go first, not knowing anything, get the maximum scolding & later the staff realizes that its not only me but the entire class knows nothing. This is how it went for the first time

Staff : " Boot the system"

  Me : "I dunno mam"

Staff : "Don't you know this.? Switch on the system"

Ore insult ah poochu. System ah on panrathuku peru than booting nu theriyama poche. The respect which my observation got was further worse, with code being written on both the sides, was thrown out of the lab. I also didn't last that long inside the lab. Viva apdinu ennanamo ketka, my only answer was "I don't know". I was also standing outside. Few moments later all my friends joined me. Standing outside the class, which I once considered as an act of guilt & moment of shame, now I was really enjoying this special moment. Even though life has changed much, with usage of words like no issues, ASAP, FYI and all other jargon's in everyday life, I couldn't resist laughing at those sweet memories of booting a system. Those were the best days of my life. Still more to come. Keep reading.

 Cheers,
 Prem.

This will be my last post for this year. 2008 is one of the special year for me, filling my life with most memorable & everlasting moments of life time. If the channels can show top 10 of 2008, then why not me ? So here goes my compilation of the events that made 2008 so special for me. Its not a countdown, but just a collection of few events.

INFOQUEST 08 - Every dream of an GCT- CSITA ian. Its our technical symposium organized only by the students of CSITA (Computer Science & Information Technology Association) . It turned out to be a great grand success with lot of participents & seniors turning up. One of the greatest moments which can never be expressed in words.

SAYONARA 08 - Our farewell function. 4 years of life in heaven came to an end in 2008. Still I can remember the day when tears were rolling down our eyes when Balaji (our PR, CR, All in all enga class ku ellame ivan than ) train started to move. Railway station la irunthavanga ellam ethuku crying nu puriyama engala pavama parthathu than highlight.

EMPLOYED - It had been tough times when everyone started their life journey, few guys were left behind waiting for call letters. I was forced to be a dhandasoru for 4 months, with everyone visiting my home asking the typical question when is my DOJ ? Few were not interested in me skipping TCS. Anyways at last I got a job, I got a project , I got salary. No worries.

MARRIAGE - Yet another unforgettable incident is the marriage function of Dhanalakshmi, enga classmate. First marriage in the ironicz (enga batch peru) batch. It was like a mini get together for us after parting for 2 months from college. The trip started with friends visiting my home followed by trip to kodaikanal, forced to go to madure karthik's home. The strength was full, even class la kooda ivalo strength average ah irukkathu.

GUITAR - Enakulla thoongitu iruntha isai kalaingana thatti elupinathu intha year la than. When I say guitar, the first question everyone asks was "Varanam ayiram effect ah ?". But it started when I saw "Rock on". A break from the daily routine of normal company life. It has been 2 months since I ve started playing. Etho oru A.R , Illayaraja alavuku illainalum, Harris range ku aachum vasikeren ippo. :)

BLOGGING - Long term goal has been achieved in 2008. Vetrikarama 2 years of planning ku apparam elutha aarambicha blog. Oru matter illainalum epadiyo samalichu 8 post kita eluthiten. Evalo than yosichalum nalla mokkai podra subject kidika matinguthu. Few friends whom I ve given credits in my first post stopped blogging itself. Ithuku karanam nan aarambichatha illa ennanu theriyala. Ethu epdi ponalum, prem elutharatha nirutha mattan. :)

RESOLUTION - Nothing big. Same as last year "Adutha new year aachum nalla resolution edukanum" .

Happy new year all.

Cheers,
Prem.

Every king will be replaced by another. The fight for the crown continues till eternity.
Wondering what am I talking about. Its the crown which every hero in kollywood aims at. Its the SUPER STAR crown. The tamil film industry has finally discovered the real super star. The super hero. The ONE. No words to describe his talents.

A local lad from ERODE has stunned the kollywood industry by his awesome performance in his debut movie 'Yaruku Yaar'. His debut strongly delivers a message to Indian cinemas. Yes he is the only hope, only dream for oscars. No more Khans and Bhachans. Yes he is none other than SAM ANDERSON. Also called as sandy, sammy , andy , sam he has achieved great heights which no other actor in world cinema can achieve. Ranked equal to Al pacino, Brad pitt, Russel crowe, Jhonny depp many are still in a confusion why this rising star chose tamil film industry. Rajnikanth is quite confused what to do to sustain his position. It took a lot of time for ulaganayagan to showcase his talents in various movies. With a single movie SAMMY destroyed all those images through his multiple talents which includes dance, dialogue delivery, scene presence, dressing sense, English knowledge and wat else. Gaptuns conditions are even worse. All the fame earned through youtube are erased by a single video. Even google ranks Sam anderson first out of 791,000. Great achievement indeed. Fans are flooding to join sam anderson fan club in orkut. I was cursing myself for not knowing his presence. Credits to my friends. Still wondering whom this guy is, then take a look and leave ur comments.

Cheers
Prem.

Hi all. Nearly a month has been passed since my last post. Doesn't mean that I was busy, had no access to net. I joined my concern almost a month back and corporate life is really cool out here. Had loads of fun in induction and training programs. Still can't forget those odd days when I was asked to do improvement to get into medical stream. Nalla velai I somehow managed to escape or else CHINNI JEYANTH mathiri note ah suthikitu innum student ah than irunthu irukanum. About life in Banglore it is really very fast. Even after spending a month here I still find very difficult to get used to it. I really find it difficult to figure out the areas, as there are many layouts, flyovers, crosses, mains, circles and the list goes on. Real estate is one of the profitable business out here. The land owners gets bucks more than what a software engineer earns in a month. As far as climate is concerned its always cool and chill. Cant predict when will it rain. To resist the chillness many wear socks along with slippers which is a weird combination in Tamilnadu.
Weekend Salvation - The Forum Mall
Banglore is flooded with shopping malls and software engineers. No wonder why people say when you throw stone in the streets of Banglore it will hit either a dog or a software engineer. There is atleast a mall for a muttu santhu and everything is extremely costly out here. Language is also bit a problem. Only englipis will not help at certain places. Everyone in my batch often used to communicate in hindhi though they are from different places. But nammaluku therinjathu ellam idhar awwo, yek gaon mein yek kishan rahatha tha. Itha vachu evalo nal than samalikarathu. Anyways the butler hindhi that I learnt helps me to sort things out. Traffic is really hectic in Banglore. If you compare Chennai with Banglore, former is far much better. The best mode of transport I would suggest is nataraja service. The vehicles in traffic will be much slower than our mattu vandi. The better thing is that auto fare is pity decent coz its metered. But ooruku pudusha iruntha avalothan, ore area va pala thadava round adichu yemathiduvan. Nalla velai nanga rendavathu round varum pothu kandupidichutom..:-) The major problem for me here is Food. Worse is that Sambhar tastes like payasam. Even some hotels contain jaggery bottle along with salt and pepper. Thank god we got a TamilNadu hotel near our place. Interesting trivia is that we are cooking. Cant believe isnt??. I ll share my experiences in cooking in the upcoming posts. Another thing which captured my attention is the So called Fashion in Banglore. For boys if you wanna be fashionable then do something to your hair. Watever it may be. Either spike it or color it. Fashion doesn end up here. Drop down ur pants as far as you can. I found many of them wit this kinda outfit calling it a fashion. Dunno why they are so desperate to show off their Jockey. Many girls are addicted to the lipstick culture irrespective of the ages. Even girls started wearin short shirts and I don wanna discuss more about that...:-)

Everyone here knows Rajnikanth. But I was surprised when one of my colleague who is from Delhi asked about Vijaykanth. He had seen Gaptuns stunts in youtube. It really took a lot of time to convince him that gaptun is a hero and not a comedian. I was happy that he havent seen any of T.R videos. Illati atha ennanu solli puriya vaikarathu. Learnd a few kannada words. Life has finally become mechanical. Yet enjoyable. Still exploring Banglore...

Cheers
Prem
